What Warehouse Operations contributes to Cardinal Health
Warehouse Operations is responsible for performing/controlling a combination of manual or automated tasks necessary for the receipt, storage, and shipment of product. This may include functions of receiving, picking, packing, shipping, staging, transporting, storage, delivery, etc. Also responsible for the efficient flow of products from the point of product receipt from vendors to the shipment of products (via prescribed service parameters) to a variety of internal and external customers.
Inventory Management is accountable for the design and execution of demand planning and customer forecasting systems, supply planning, product deployment and expediting processes, and the development and implementation of a stocking optimization model to minimize costs and inventory while delivering on service requirements.
What is expected of you and others at this level in Inventory Management for functional success
Monitor all cycle count programs and ensure consistency and accuracy.
Coordinate and oversee daily inventory control tasks which includes item movement based on velocity, cycle counts, internal damage processing and product rotation.
Maintain records and implement process improvement for inventory variances.
Train employees and staff in all inventory control processes according to standard operating processes.
Abide by regulatory and compliance regulations.
Direct and manage warehouse associates to achieve timely distribution and receipt of product and motivate employees to ensure that predetermined productivity and quality standards are achieved
Monitor productivity, adhere to budgetary guidelines, and work to meet Distribution Center objectives and operational goals while maintaining standards pertaining to quality
Hold staff accountable for conducting work in a safe manner, ensure that warehouse personnel have safe, efficient equipment to perform distribution functions and provide support for a culture that strives toward continuous improvement in Environmental, Health and Safety
Recommend and implement programs, policies, and strategies to increase production and efficient space utilization
Ensure quality service is provided to the customers and ensures prompt follow-through on customer correspondence, complaints and inquiries related to shipment of merchandise and stock-on-hand; Develops and implement modifications and innovations to improve the quality of service to our customers
Adhere to budget requirements and works toward obtaining objectives and division goals
Responsible for employee development, which includes training, coaching, counseling and performance appraisals
Maintains general responsibility for disciplinary process in the area of counseling, oral and written warnings; insures a productive work climate in the warehouse operation
Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency while providing flawless transactions and services; manage monetary assets and other resources to optimize cost effectiveness.
Prepares ad hoc reports as necessary
Responsible for Cardinal Health compliance and regulations concerning OSHA, DEA, FDA, State and local authorities; primary facility contact for QRA compliance and initiatives
Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain concepts, financial acumen and product knowledge
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence internal and external customers to get results
Proven experience leveraging Lean Six Sigma to accelerate results
Experience using reporting and productivity tools to provide insights (Microsoft Office – Access and Excel, Business Objects, etc.)
Demonstrated poise and ease when interacting with all levels of the organization
Excellent communication skills, active listening and ability to adapt ones style
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 3-5 years distribution experience preferred.
- 1-3 year’s supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Lean Six Sigma experience preferred.
- Experience tracking and meeting KPI's preferred.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office preferred.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and lift weights up to 50 pounds on a regular basis required.
Accountabilities in this role
- Determine staffing levels in the areas of responsibility with support and direction from the Operations Manager and Director of Operations to ensure performance standards are met and/or exceeded at an individual and department level.
- Support and adhere to stringent regulatory controls associated with all core operating processes.
- Train new employees assigned to work group.
- Perform and oversee continuous quality checks.
- Ensure safety guidelines and standards are maintained in all work areas.
- Complete various performance reports.
- Establish and communicate work group performance standards.
- Adhere to budget requirements and work to meet and obtain budgeted goal.
- Motivate, coach and counsel work group to address operation questions/concerns.
- Communicate company policies and procedures to work group.
