About the role...
We are seeking an employment specialist to work within the The Individual Placement and Support (IPS) team based in Selby. The IPS team help to find meaningful jobs for people we support that suit their skills, abilities and experience.
As an Employment Specialist, you’ll not only transform the lives of the people you work with, but you’re also creating a fairer and more inclusive society. You’ll join a passionate, driven team and receive the training and support you need to advance your career in a rewarding, diverse and fast-moving environment.
About you…
We welcome people from a range of backgrounds and with all kinds of life experience, but here’s what we’d like you to have:
Experience or an understanding of working with people with substance misuse issues, or similar groups.
Experience of working with people on a one-to-one basis, offering motivation and support.
Empathy with those with substance misuse needs.
The ability to build good relationships with a range of different people, from employers to clients.
The ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
A passion for making a difference to peoples’ lives.
A degree-level education, or equivalent career experience.

We tackle poverty and disadvantage in communities, through mental health, drug and alcohol, housing and related support.
We have almost 200 services around England – and nearly 3,500 amazing staff and volunteers who run them. Every year our services support around 125,000 people.
Bringing together two big organisations is not a small task and it’ll take a while to fully integrate our systems, processes and approaches. That’s why you will notice the jobs here are still branded ‘Humankind’. Next year we’ll be fully integrating our recruitment systems but for now they are separate.
