Position Overview
The Senior Investment Director in Singapore will have three primary responsibilities: evaluating investment managers in the private equity and venture capital areas in Asia; advising clients on their private investments; and helping colleagues globally in establishing and monitoring their clients' private investment programs in Asia.
Job Responsibilities
Senior Investment Directors will spend a significant amount of their time on investment manager research. This includes meeting with managers; attending annual meetings; and networking with industry participants to gather intelligence on managers, and to identify promising new ones. All of this culminates in due diligence reports on the highest quality managers. Senior Investment Directors should have a strong grasp of and networks in the PEVC landscape in Asia.
Equally, Senior Investment Directors oversee and participate in all aspects of clients’ private investment-related projects, which include performing analytical tasks, developing investment manager recommendations, supervising investment associates, preparing presentation materials, and making presentations to clients. They work directly and closely with the owners and/or fiduciaries of the investment assets, which may be the Investment Committee of a Board of Trustees or the Chief Investment Officer of an institution. Senior Investment Directors may be involved in business development efforts.
Qualifications
- MBA or CFA strongly preferred
- Ten to fifteen years of appropriate knowledge and experience preferred, gained from work in a similar capacity at a large institutional investor (such as a pension fund or endowment) or fund-of-funds, or as an analyst at a private equity investment firm
- Demonstrated qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong English business writing skills
- Business Mandarin proficiency is essential to liaise with Mandarin speaking clients and investment managers
- An ability to work independently
