Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to identify, develop, and execute growth strategies in the dry commodities sector. This role will focus on expanding market reach, facilitating mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and building partnerships to strengthen our position in the global market. The ideal candidate is strategic, well-connected in the industry, and has a proven track record in business development, especially in driving M&A initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Growth Planning:
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify growth opportunities in dry commodities shipping, including expanding into new geographies or segments.
- Develop, refine, and execute business development strategies, aligning them with corporate goals.
Mergers and Acquisitions:
- Identify potential acquisition targets in the dry commodities sector, assessing alignment with client's strategic objectives.
- Lead due diligence efforts, coordinating with legal, financial, and operational teams to evaluate and mitigate risks.
- Manage deal structures, negotiations, and integration planning for successful M&A initiatives.
Partnership Development:
- Build and maintain relationships with key industry players, including suppliers, clients, and stakeholders.
- Identify and establish strategic alliances to drive growth, enhance service offerings, and expand market reach.
Market and Competitor Analysis:
- Stay up to date with market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes affecting the dry commodities sector.
- Analyze competitor strategies and performance and use findings to adjust business development initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with the finance, operations, legal, and marketing teams to support acquisition integration and ensure cohesive execution of new initiatives.
- Collaborate with senior management to present growth opportunities, including strategic recommendations and projections.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Establish performance metrics for business development initiatives and acquisitions.
- Provide regular reports to senior management, highlighting achievements, risks, and areas for improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Economics, or a related field; an MBA or relevant certification
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, with a strong background in mergers and acquisitions within the dry commodities shipping industry.
- In-depth knowledge of the dry commodities market and shipping industry trends.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret market data, financial statements, and operational KPIs.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
- High level of initiative, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
