1. Education and Certification: Minimum GCE 'O' Levels or equivalent. Completion of a dental assisting program or relevant certification is advantageous.
2. Clinical Skills: Proficiency in chairside assisting during dental procedures, including but not limited to fillings, extractions, root canals and minor oral surgery. Knowledge of dental instruments and sterilisation techniques is essential.
3. Patient Care: Ability to prepare patients for treatment and provide post-operative care instructions. Comfortable interacting with patients of all ages and backgrounds.
4. Organisational Skills: Maintain orderly dental practice records, inventory management of supplies, and scheduling appointments.
5. Team Collaboration: Work closely with dentists and supporting staff members to ensure efficient workflow and patient comfort.
6. Communication Skills: Clear verbal communication skills to explain procedures and reassure patients.
7. Adaptability: Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
8. Commitment to Safety: Strict adherence to infection control protocols and occupational health and safety standards.
9. Professionalism: Maintain confidentiality of patient information and uphold ethical standards in all interactions.
10. Continuous Learning: Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with industry trends and best practices.
Candidates who can speak a second language, and have prior experience in dental surgery assisting or a background in healthcare will be preferred.
