WHAT YOU’LL DO
Supporting site safety initiatives, this role will report directly to the Site Sr. Training Specialist and has a tactical focus on the day-to-day implementation and adherence to the site training process. This role will provide direct on-the job-training instruction, as well as oversight of the safety training processes. In accordance with the site’s Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) guidelines, this role will ensure team members are provided with proper instruction to safely perform job responsibilities as outlined in the training process. This role will partner and align with the overall Technical Training and Safety strategy for the organization. The individual will need to be flexible in their work schedule to accommodate the training needs of a multi-shift operation and should expect to regularly work off-shift hours.
- Remain current on EHS Technical Standards and OSHA guidelines to ensure compliance with associated policies.
- Support EHS in monitoring and assessing compliance to technical standards, site / departmental safety rules and OSHA guidelines.
- Remain current on new and/or updated regulations and train new and existing team members on updates as needed.
- Partner with site EHS to determine site / departmental training needs and develop associated training programs. This includes evaluating compliance regulations and interpreting how they affect the site operation.
- Develop and execute comprehensive training plans to close any identified gaps.
- Conduct needed train-the-trainer sessions to allow other site employees to assist with safety training as needed. External certification may be required prior to conducting train-the-trainer sessions.
- Adjust existing training programs for improved delivery and effectivity.
- Deliver and/ or coordinate safety training for team members to include periodic assessments of ongoing skills and demonstrated competency.
- Provide SME insight and support in updates to safety related training materials as periodic reviews occur.
- Responsible for the development of instructional materials.
- Educate new team members on their roles and responsibilities regarding workplace safety.
- Partner with site EHS to ensure implementation and training compliance with site safety training programs.
- Provide input to the Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for new equipment and equipment upgrades at the site and ensure JHAs are incorporated into the on-the-job training (OJT) process. Partner with site Technical Training Specialists to monitor and track safety related OJT.
- Develop sustainability plan as needed for EHS training.
- Address team member concerns related to safety training.
- Support EHS in ensuring that the site training processes are followed and adhered to by site personnel in their respective area(s).
- Ensure periodic safety assessments on critical tasks are complete and documented with any action items outlined for gaps.
- Develop and track any needed safety training metrics.
- Ensure compliance with Site, Division, and Corporate Training and EHS policies. Ensure safety training records remain audit ready.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Required
- High School Diploma / GED
- 2+ years’ industrial experience
- OSHA 10 certification
- Candidate must have a thorough working knowledge of applicable safety related policies, regulations, laws, and instruct on them independently while adhering to effective training principles and concepts to ensure learning and demonstrated competency
- Must complete certifications and other requirements necessary for the topics for which they will provide classroom or hands-on instruction such as Lockout / Tagout, Confined Space and other core industrial safety programs
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in industrial safety
- OSHA 30 certification
- Some experience instructing adult learners using a variety of media including classroom environments, multimedia, and computer software

The base pay for this position is
$48,000.00 – $96,000.00
