Due to the growth of our Transport Planning team, we have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Director to join our business in our London office. This is a full-time permanent role.
Reporting to the Technical Director for Infrastructure Planning, the Associate Director will provide leadership, governance, and direction, and contribute to the success of business plan and strategies. In addition, ensuring that the aspirations and needs of stakeholders are met including our customers, internal clients, and our employees.
What you will be doing:
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with key clients, adopting a collaborative partnership approach and negotiate with internal and external business partners, clients, and customers.
- Ensuring projects are secured in line with business commercial guidelines and meet quality, financial and client satisfaction objectives
- Delivering and contributing to the success of business plans and strategies, developing, tracking, and securing new opportunities in the public and private sectors that will enable the FWM team to meet growth aspirations
- Leading and mentoring direct reports and teams of Transport Planners to support project delivery
- Ensuring that staff are provided with the appropriate information technology and appropriate training to maintain high-quality service delivery at all times.
- Reporting and contributing at operational team meetings and implement agreed management strategies and line manage up to six direct reports, undertaking annual appraisals to agree, monitor and measure performance targets.
- Managjng programmes of work and delivering expert technical support, input, and services in the delivery of Transport Planning projects including development control, local authority transport strategies, funding submissions, active travel projects, and assisting our clients with planning and delivering programmes of work.
- Preparing and assisting with bid submissions for new work that enable the business to meet growth aspirations
- Monitoring utilisation of managed teams and take ownership of emerging issues with workload and pipeline. Providing leadership and direction with responsibility and accountability for ensuring quality products, consistent performance, best practice, and technical excellence.
- Supporting regional financial performance through management of key accounts, debt management, project oversight, staff resourcing, resource scheduling and pipeline analysis.
What we are looking for:
- Chartered with CIHT/TPP
- Demonstrable knowledge and expertise in transport planning and the stakeholder environment within London and the South-East.
- Detailed knowledge and experience of delivering transport planning services for local authorities
- Working knowledge of relevant legislation, planning policy, and funding cycles
- Experienced in solution development and ability to develop, price, and agree scope of services plus leading and winning tender opportunities.
- Experienced in writing and reviewing technical reports and adept in conveying key messages in a simple and clear manner from complex technical documentation.
- Highly effective mentoring and training skills to develop and support staff
- Knowledge and experience of financial management for significant project and programme values. Demonstrable business/commercial management skills of small to large project
