About the role
As Maintenance Supervisor, you will manage a team of qualified tradesmen and fitters to execute planned and unplanned maintenance activities. You must ensure that the maintenance function is carried out within the Company Policies and Procedures with all work completed using the appropriate safety systems and standards.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate the safe maintenance of equipment, meeting, legislative and standards and guidelines
Identify and promote safe work practice, ensuring appropriate precautions are taken to reduce risk to both people, equipment, and the environment
Ensure all Company policies and procedures are followed, particularly Safety and Environmental in the department.
Improve performance and reliability of all fixed plant.
Improve standards and reliability of all camp facilities.
Manage contractors with the contractor management guidelines to ensure the efficient and cost-effective use of resources.
Oversee improvements and modifications to equipment recommended by manufacturers.
Provide appropriate diagnostics tools and assistance to the maintenance teams
To assist with the scoping of corrective maintenance and shutdown activities.
Assist and advise with procedural changes e.g. Amendments to JSAs and SOPs
Follow up the reporting of any hazards, accidents, incidents or near misses immediately when they occur
Perform walk around inspections on completion of work to ensure the machines are in a safe working condition
Actively participate in all areas of work, encouraging teamwork and leading by example
Camp maintenance and camp yard maintenance.
Liaise with the warehouse management to ensure stock levels are kept at appropriate levels required and parts are expedited as required.
About you
To be considered for this role, you will have:
Relevant trade qualification
First aid certificate
S1, S2 & S3 (formerly G1, G8 & G9) competencies required
Minimum 5 years mining experience
Minimum two (5) years frontline supervisory experience
Ability to operate machinery for movement and testing; light vehicles
Proficiency in conducting failure analysis and in the use of root cause investigation techniques.
Possess a basic knowledge of operational functions; electrical and mechanical skills
Proficiency in trade specific computer programs (CLASSIC/CATSIS/VIMS/ET)
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
Strong knowledge of safety regulations, environmental standards, and best practices in mining operations.
Strong commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement
Ability to build positive relationships with your team and develop good team morale and engagement
Effective problem-solving skills, clear verbal communication skills and the ability to handle competing demands
Proven problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make informed decisions under pressure
This role is a 15:13 FIFO roster arrangement and applicants must reside in Bamaga, Mapoon, Weipa, or Cairns. Applicants located in other areas/states must be willing to self-relocate, and state this on their resume.
