Job Title: Head of Training cum Business Development
The role of a ‘Head of Training’ cum Business Development oversees the development and implementation of training programmes to prepare seniors for work-life transition as well as engaging them in meaningful activities to live a purposeful and meaningful life. On business development aspect, the potential candidate is responsible for driving growth and expanding market presence by identifying new business opportunities, building and maintaining relationships with potential clients, and enhancing the company’s overall sales/marketing strategy. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong communication skills and a passion for developing innovative solutions to meet client needs.

Job Summary:
The Head of Training cum Business Development is responsible for business development identifying new sectors and develop new/potential clientele for training opportunities, leading the training and development function as well as managing daily operation of training activities and ensuring they are carried out efficiently according to organizations’ guidelines. This role involves working closely with stakeholders in assessing training needs, designing new training programs, reviewing existing training curriculum to ensure relevancy and ensuring the effective delivery of training initiatives to enhance senior learners’ skills and knowledge to increase employment opportunities or active ageing and wellbeing for retirement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Market Research, Analysis and relationship building
- Identify new sectors and develop new/potential clientele for training opportunities.
- Analyse customer needs and preferences to inform training product/service offerings.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including potential and existing clients, partners, and industry influencers.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients and address their inquiries and needs.
2. Sales Strategy Development:
- Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement effective strategies to achieve business goals.
- Create proposals and presentations that showcase the company’s value proposition.
3. Training Strategy Development:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive training strategy aligned with organisation’s goals and budgets.
- Identify training needs through regular assessments and feedback from stakeholders.
- Manage trainers’ expectations and develop a pool of capable trainers.
4. Program Design and Delivery:
- Create, curate, and manage training programs (in-person, online, or hybrid) for senior learners from corporate clients, for senior learners in the community as well as for senior job seekers.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure the course content is relevant and up-to-date.
5. Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor the training team, fostering a service culture to meet senior learners’ and clients’ needs and requirements.
- Allocate resources effectively to meet training objectives.
6. Performance Evaluation:
- Establish metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make improvements based on feedback and performance data.
- Conduct regular assessments and adjustments to training initiatives to ensure they meet the evolving needs of the clients and the community.
- Evaluate trainers’ performance and code of conduct are in accordance to organisation’s standards
- Address clients’ feedback and comments and resolve complaints
- Keep track of training numbers and ensure KPIs are met.
7. Marketing and Publicity:
- Create EDMs and publicity material to promote training programmes to partners, clients and to the public through the organisation’s social media channels.
8. Budget Management:
- Develop and manage the training budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while achieving high-quality outcomes.
9. Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Partner with trainers, corporate clients and job placement team to identify specific training needs and align programs with business objectives.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between the training team, internal staff and partners/clients.
10. Stay Updated on Trends
- Research and implement best practices in training and development.
- Stay informed about industry trends, technologies, and methodologies.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Marketing, Education, or a related field. Preferably to possess ACTA, ACLP and/or DACE.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in training and development, in business development, sales, or related fields, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record in delivering and developing successful client relationships.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong analytical skills to assess training effectiveness.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Excellent negotiation and closing abilities.
- Able to deliver talks and conduct training to large groups of people either in-person or through Zoom/MS Teams.
- Proficient in learning management systems (LMS), CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite and other training technologies.
