Aliena is a leading Singapore-based space-tech company, aiming at providing high-resolution data to terrestrial businesses by enabling a fleet of imaging satellites to fly closer to the Earth using our proprietary electric propulsion engines. In January 2022 Aliena broke the record for the smallest satellite ever to launch with a Hall plasma thruster on board.
We impact lives on Earth by bringing space closer to home. We develop low power engines that enable satellites to fly closer to Earth and provide impactful high quality data to various market segments such as banking & finance, maritime, aviation, agriculture, energy, security, and defence at an affordable rate.
Our engines are mission agnostic, and while our vision is centred around the very low earth orbit, all types of missions are welcome, in any branch of pace exploration or space economy.
By joining our dynamic and visionary team, you will take part in defining the future of Earth observation and state-of-the-art low power plasma propulsion systems.
Your responsibilities
- Perform the electrical design, simulation and analysis of power electronics circuits and systems to meet technical product requirements. The main focus will be on DC-DC power converters.
- Conduct the electrical debug, test, characterization, and validation of power electronics designs.
- Optimise the Power Processing Unit design for coupling with Aliena’s family of Hall effect thrusters. Understand the interactions between power electronics and plasma devices (internal training provided).
- Cooperate with embedded system engineers to improve the Electronic Control Unit and explore the possibility of an integrated ECU-PPU.
- Support the design of laboratory experiments to test the PPU performance coupled with different Thruster Units and power rails.
- Assist in the environmental testing of PPUs and other Aliena systems (might involve travelling abroad).
- Partner with the operations team in planning for the scale production stage of the propulsion system.
- Document and share best-practices.
