Position Overview:
The Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of integrated security systems, focusing on CCTV and card access systems. This role involves working closely with clients, project managers, and installation teams to ensure that systems are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality.
Key Responsibilities:
1. System Design and Implementation:
- Develop detailed designs for integrated security systems, including CCTV and card access control systems.
- Configure and program system components to meet specific project requirements.
- Oversee the installation and commissioning of systems to ensure they function correctly and meet client expectations.
2. Technical Support and Troubleshooting:
- Provide technical support to clients and internal teams for installed systems.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues related to security systems.
- Perform regular maintenance and updates to ensure optimal system performance.
3. Project Coordination:
- Work with project managers to develop project plans, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Coordinate with installation teams to ensure projects are completed on schedule.
- Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates and address any concerns.
4. System Testing and Quality Assurance:
- Conduct thorough testing of installed systems to ensure they meet functional and performance standards.
- Identify and address any issues or deficiencies in system performance.
- Document test results and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
5. Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed records of system configurations, installations, and maintenance activities.
- Prepare technical documentation, including system diagrams, user manuals, and training materials.
- Provide regular reports to management on project status, system performance, and technical issues.
6. Training and Support:
- Train clients and end-users on the operation and maintenance of installed systems.
- Develop and deliver training sessions for internal teams on new technologies and best practices.
- Provide ongoing support and updates to clients as needed.
7. Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all work complies with industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
- Follow company policies and procedures for safety and security.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technological advancements.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in designing, installing, and maintaining security systems, including CCTV and card access systems.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Security+, or manufacturer-specific certifications are a plus.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of security systems, including CCTV and card access control.
- Proficiency in network and IT infrastructure as it relates to security systems.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and specifications.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Physical Requirements:
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to client sites.
Work Environment:
- Combination of office, client sites, and fieldwork.
- May require working outside regular business hours to meet project deadlines or resolve urgent issues.
